Instructions: To continue to introduce each student to research and writing, each student is being asked to write an annotated bibliography, which is a list of references that summarizes, describes, and evaluates scholarly resources. It differs from an abstract, in that an abstract merely explains or summarizes the work, while an annotation describes the work AND critically evaluates it.
Assignment: Each student will create an annotated bibliography of 6 scholarly references , based upon one’s topic of interest and working thesis statement. Then, this topic, the working thesis statement, and this research assignment will be utilized for the Final Research Paper.
MLA format Rules:
· Times New Roman font style
· Double spacing throughout paper, including between citations and annotations and between annotations
· 1-inch margins
· Hanging indent for second, third and fourth lines of the citation.
· No additional spaces.
· Be sure to include a title for this assignment that is connecting back to your working thesis statement.
Scholarly Source Requirements:
USE the recommended Library Databases: CQ Researcher, Opposing Viewpoints and Context, and ProQuest.
· two (2) unique peer-reviewed journal articles
· one (1) scholarly newspaper paper article
· one (1) scholarly magazine article
· two (2) additional sources of your choice (i.e. a Netflix Film Documentary)

MLA Citation and Annotation Requirements:
· Each citation should be in the ML 8th Edition format. All citations must have a copyright date of 2011 or later. If your topic is on something that occurred in the past or later then 2011, you may use older sources to aid in your research. Statistical data should be current-no later than 2016, unless you are comparing past/present. Refer to the sample below.

· Each annotation must be at least 50-150 words. Be sure to follow the guidelines below:
Write a concise summary: What are the main arguments? What is the point of this article? (Use at least 3-4 sentences.)
Evaluate or Asses the documented source: Is it a useful source? How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? What is the goal of this source? (Use at least 2-4 sentences.)
Comment on the intended audience. Who is the journal attempting to reach? Professionals? In what field? The general public? (Use 1 sentence.)
Reflect: Once you've summarized and assessed a source, now it is time to ask how it fits into one’s research. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic? (Use at least 4 sentences.)
